hi,
i install wista and i have problem with svchost.exe ... this services consume 64%-80% procesor resource
rating
of my pc is 1. (Intel P4 2,8GHz HT, 1GB ram duacl channel, 80GB HDD, GeForce4 mx 440 64MB) Hubert -------------------------- hubert@zilina.sk http://hubert.qsh.sk

Hi Hubert,
Svchost.exe is a system process that loads many different system tasks. Process Explorer here should help you uncover which task is causing the heavy load: http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/processexplorer.html, just make sure you get the right version for your system. I've tested both the 32 and 64 bit versions for XP in Vista and they work fine.

Seems like you should ask Kerio about making their product work with Windows.

It may be just that Vista code is Beta and is not optimized to run efficiently, which is done so that it is easier for programmers to go back into the code and fix things.

With the approximate same software and same background programs running (with the exceptions of the ones built into Vista) here's how a few of my tests went with my stop-watch.
XP's start-up time (starting from the splash screen until the desktop is fully loaded): 1 minute 5 seconds Vista's start-up time (starting from the splash screen until the desktop is fully loaded): 1 minute 41 seconds (if it weren't for the sidebar, it probably could shave 10 to 15 seconds off of the time)
XP's
opening a 3.9GB playlist to WMP10: 1.5 seconds Vista's opening a 3.9GB playlist to WMP11 (same playlist on the same drive): 1.6 seconds
XP's shut-down time: 12 seconds Vista's shut-down time: 28 seconds
Specs: AMD Sempron 2800+ OC'd to 1.92GHz (Yes, I'm overclocking again) 1.5GB of RAM PC-3000 & PC-3200 XP's hard drive: WD 80GB 7200RPM 2MB cache IDE hard drive Vista's hard drive: WD 120GB (60GB partition) 7200RPM 8MB cache IDE hard drive Ati Radeon X1600 PRO 256MB of GDDR2 RAM (AGP 8x) etc. etc.
Vista's 'size on disk' in the Windows folder: 7.22GB 36,917 files XP's 'size on disk' in the Windows folder: 2.61GB 17,608 files
When I go into the performance rating tool in Vista, it tells me that my audio drivers may be making my computer start slower, so I'll give Vista the benefit of the doubt there. I'll also say that's it's only beta and still has some debugging to be done, so we'll have to wait and see until at least RC1 if not final to see what the results are then.

Performance says tghe these sys is slowing down my computer they are "netbt.sys" and "nsiproxy.sys" , my question is do i really need these. -- geo

Basicly noone knows with your "long" description of enviroment wether you need those. =)
More important now is that ignore those messages after you have sent beta bug report. The performance indicator has been adjusted now to trigger alerts so that driver developers and companies can tweak their drivers etc. So it has all to do with debugging. Surely you can try updating your network adapter drivers to latest vista versions if they exist.

Everytime I access Performance and Ratings Tools I get this issue: d The Desktop Window Manager is experiencing heavy resource contention.
Scenario : The Desktop Window Manager responsiveness has degraded.

My graphic card is an ATI RADEON XPRESS 200M

Thanks in advance!

Hmm, I'm no expert in the area but is not that some kind of integrated graphics card? One of the less powerful models I think. Is that the only time you get that message or does it occur in other places/when doing other things too? If not you might want to report it as a bug, otherwise I'd say you've got a too weak graphics card for Vista.

The video card runs just fine under vista. I have the same card in my GAteway laptop. Vista runs well. I think Amgokin's problem is related to something else. He might try adding more page file, and/or shut off some of the eye candy in favor of performance.
Like I stated, I also have the same card and I have never seen this problem. But then again I have this laptop set up for performance (can't wait to update the memory and replace this slow hard drive)
